The Remaining Wolves

River quickly dropped Darkness, who pressed against the ground under her.
She raised her tail in warning, and she moved her paw protectively in-front of Darkness.
She ran her blue and red eyes over the grey wolf, and tensed her legs in-case of the need-be to run.
"Could ask the same of you." She said coldly. River paused for a second, before adding. "We're just simply travelers."

He snorted, his tone dripping with mockery after listening to her short response. His glared lightly intensified. "Pretty foolish for a she- wolf and her pup to linger around an oncoming demon." He mentioned darkly, referring to the forest fire. His eyes bounced below to the male pup. "I figured the glint in the distance would scare away all. Or the scent would hint to run." He added before dropping his tail. After realizing she appeared no threat in his eyes.

Name: Stormcloud. He calls himself Peter in the presence of humans.
Age: His real age is unknown, as he has spent as much time as a human as he has a wolf. He looks and acts like a 14 or 15 year old human.
Gender: Male
Crush: None
Personality: Seems quiet and maybe a bit shy towards strangers, but if you know him well you'll know he's very vocal and sometimes even humorous. He often uses sarcasm in tense situations to hide his fear or anxiety. If he feels threatened, he acts a lot tougher than he actually is, causing some to believe he's dangerous or cold.
Specie of wolf: Grey wolf
Wolf Description: Light gray wolf with amber eyes
Human Description: Fair skin, short dirty blond hair, amber eyes
Other: Believes that this "Paradise" is just some sort of weird made up story to give wolves some sort of other purpose. Currently trying to find out how many other wolves are out there.

((Accepted. Thanks for joining. :) ))

River peeled back her lips, offended, revealed long, white fangs. "Then what are you doing, sitting here, idiot?" She snapped. "At least I was trying to get away. You were just sitting, lost in your thoughts." She muttered, slowly she moved her paw back, warning Darkness to flee on her word.

He reeled his lips back into a wicked smirk. His eyes darted up at her fierce orbs that glimmered a glare. "I was overlooking the peaks. Figuring which way was the best to travel without colliding into it later on." He answered, peering overhead at the murky sky. He arched his head back down. He slimmed an eye mysteriously. "If you were leaving...why were you heading this way?" He questioned at her suspicious location. He swiftly bounced a glance at her paw then Darkness.

River glared at him, the truth that she had risked her and her brother's lives in search of a fairy tale their parents had been bent on finding, flew through her mind. Would she tell this snarky he-wolf that?
No.
"Nothing you are entitled to know." She said blandly. He's playing you.
She shook her coat, which had been grey because of the ash, and as the ash fell off, it revealed her brown pelt. "Now, whether you want to sit here and play ask-a-question, I don't intend to be burned alive."
River reached down and picked up Darkness by the scruff, but this time he didn't thrash.
The last time Darkness had seen another wolf... Well, needless to say, death had found him before River and him.

Zarzuk unveiled his narrowed as she was correct. Playing questions wasn't really the brightest. But he wasn't going to admit it either.
"The blaze is far, but approaching swiftly." He stated bluntly. His tone rather dull and cold. His eyes flickered between the two after she plucked the silent pup.
He sluggishly took a few paces back then swirled with his back facing her. He bolted away from the odd she-wolf without another glance or word.

I can see that. River wanted to snap, but held her peace.
She turned in the direction to escape the fire, but a growl from Darkness paused her. "What?" She grumbled through his fur.
"You're going the wrong way. We need to go south."
"That's straight into the fire. I'm going around it."
"Mum and Dad wouldn't go around it." He muttered.
"Well, I'm not Mum, am I? Once it passes, I'll go back into the right direction. To go head on into it is suicide." River growled.
"Okay." Darkness said reluctantly.
With that, she raced off.

The strong winds proceeded to feed the demonic flame that raced after the desperate wildlife. It mercilessly seared the luscious ferns and wild grass. The tall flames licking at the towering red pines.
At various sections of the roasting woodlands. Hovering embers are igniting on dead bark and brittle grass. To continue the forest's demise.
Zarzuk could feel the oncoming sweltering heat from the distant fire. And the dense haze was becoming challenging to view as the blaze crept closer.
He reluctantly partially sealed his eyes to a narrow slit. Although, kept on darting.
Out of the blue he and possibly River could crash in the thick smog.

As the seconds raced into minutes, the smoke did get worse. It burned River's eyes and nose, causing tears to leak from her eyes, and caused her to constantly cough.
She paused for a moment, shaking her head, then lept back into a run. I'm going to get lost in this stupid smoke! She snarled in her head.
She lost her footing on a steep hill, and she instinctively opened her mouth in a yelp, and Darkness fell out of her hold.
~
Darkness tumbled to a stop, and his head jerked up. He couldn't see anything in the smoke, and he had no clue how big that hill was and how far he had fell from River. "Riv?" He squeaked. He couldn't hear a response.
At that moment he heard faint foot steps, and assuming it was River, scrambled towards them. It wasn't long until he rammed into something furry.
Raising his head, he saw the face of a grey wolf. "You!" Darkness said in surprise.
(This okay? I can edit if you have other plans and don't want them to interact.)

((No it's completely fine. What you reply is what you reply. ;) I need to make more characters anyway.))
Zarzuk was forced into a brief stop from The blinding smoke. He didn't want to collide into a thick tree.
He rose a paw to rinse away the draining tears from his eyes that stung. He briefly sealed his eyes for a moment then flipped them open.
After, he felt a fleecy texture brushed his ankle. He anchored his head low, pivoting eyes on him. "Oh... You again? Where's your mother?" He asked rather coldly then sweetly as you would a child.
