The Rhodebar thread!

The type problems in the two pics above are pretty obvious even to the novice if you read the RIR sop...

Crossing back to HRIR should yield simmilar results as the European Rhodebar x RIR Cross

single barred males, but good type and body shape

Rhodebar double barred Sire of the RhodebarxRIR cross male above, as you can see the RIR cross has a better Type than the Original Rhodebar male

As you can see with the currect Rhodebar bloodlines one can not simply cross them to Hatchery RIR and expect any improvement at all(except for better laying), I would also say that trying to breed the best Rhodebar with other Rhodebars will not be as fast or provide any significant gains in Type as in Outcrossing to HRIR after all the Rhodebar's Genesis is on the RIR and going back to the source should always produce exceptional quality birds..

just so you guys can see how good Rhodebars can look when breed to RIR standars

single barred males, but good type and body shape

Actually, I don't agree...
An "improvement" in type? maybe
But good type? No
He is not brick shaped, he needs more depth of breast, he is way too short backed, his tail set is all wrong, and horn color isn't evident on beak and legs, etc....
This does not look like a "good" RIR type to me... sorry... no offense meant...

18 week old first generation Rhodebar x Hatchery rhode island red hen. Theres a roo with one barring gene. Also note the barring in the pullets. Some have little sign of barring and some have very pronounced barring
It was snowing as i took these pictures
If you cross a Rhodebar roo with a RIR hen (hatchery or heritage), then you will not get any double barred cockerels.... they will all be single barred.
Remember, ultimately you want single barred pullets and double barred cockerels.
Now "some" of the pullets will be single barred, and some of them will not be barred at all.
