The Rhodebar thread!

I am always here to assist...
And I appreciate that about you! I bought five pullets ~3 weeks old and he threw in a cockerel chick with the bunch. All these chicks are feathering out really strangely...their feathers stick out at odd angles especially around the shoulders. I'll get a photo hopefully today. Any ideas?

I need to reduce my Rhodebar flock...I have nine hens and one rooster...all from Greenfire.....will not ship, pickup only....$200 , located in Carnation, WA, east of Seattle. They are just over 6 weeks old

I really love my Rhodebars. I have about 8 almost mature hens and they are so sweet. Curious and first to be fed. Lovely marking and healthy. I have a few almost mature rooster that are super light to dark.....so will be figuring who stays and who goes in a month or so.

Moved them and some other teenagers (same age) to a new area. within minutes the Rhodebars were grubbing around and the other were still skittish. The cat came in to investigate and they ran him off.....they are smaller that the cat....who is small....it was so cute.

I also moved my rhodebars in with my layer flock. Very easy. My rooster is going to be huge! He is just starting to crow and is getting along fine with the other 2 Roos in that pen.

My Rhodebar pullets have been laying daily for a while so I've started collecting eggs and will start the first batch in the bator tomorrow.
I haven't put my other Rhodebar cockerel with the HRIR yet due to the weather but hope to move them to breeding pens this weekend.

We will need pics when they hatch.

Mine are laying great now too..... weather has not hindered them at all really.... muddy eggs but that is about it.

Thought we'd share...
Our oldest daughter got married a few months ago and moved to a subdivision in town.
So... we built her a chicken tractor for Christmas.
We wrapped a 50 lb bag of layer pellets to put under the tree
with a note saying "3 hens from our hen house are included".

Fun Fun... we weren't sure what she'd think but she was WAY excited.
I'm afraid the younger 2 daughters are now trying to figure out if they can get a chicken tractor on the balcony of an apartment or dorm room.
