The Rhodebar thread!

A While ago, someone had posted a picture of a Rooster that was the proper color. For the life of me, I cannot find it. I have a bunch of roosters and need to weed out the non-breeders and select the main rooster. Also I believe there was a picture of what NOT to keep. Too much white?

Could some point me those pictures? Thanks in advance

So has anyone really thought down the road about the best way to practically breed these improved Rhodebars without being yourself into a corner.
It's a little mind boggling to think about but that part of the long term breeding plan is a little to much of a mystery right now and I need some brainstorms as to how to most efficiently and cost effectively handle that.

I think what you have to do, is hope somebody else has done exactly what you did. If they have also created a line of their own of quality birds, then you can trade back-and-forth for some genetic diversity.

It might be worth seeing if you can find people now who are interested in this project. With the goal of starting their own line from birds that come from someone other than your source, to later potentially cross back-and-forth.

I purchased five Rhodebar pullets at ~2.5 weeks of age. They are now ~6 weeks. One of the pullets has a odd patterning on her feathers. Crappy cell phone photos, I know...she jumped right off that table...

These are two of the "normal" patterned pullets:

Is it possible the oddly marked pullet is not a Rhodebar, or does this pattern show up?
the odd pullet seems to lack Columbian, and without it she is going to be just a Salmon breasted hen, just like whelsummers..

He also has CCL and Jaerhon...we've determined that one of the five is a CCL, so I probably did not get many Rhodebars. Here's a photo of the other five (cockerel a blur to the left, CCL just above him on left, 2 dark red RB in middle?? Nice red RB on right):

If you click on the photo it gets larger and is easier to see :)

The second chick from the left in the group photo is a Legbar. Mystery solved.
