The top left darkest chick "might" be a Rhodebar, the others are not. And there are no Rhodebars in the adult picture. SorryHelp! I am a total chicken beginner as well as new to this website. Please excuse any ignorance on my part. A friend hatched us a few Rhodebar chicks as well as a few black copper Marans. To my understanding the Rhodebar's gender can be determined as chicks. I looked at several pictures from this thread and was happy to determine I had two females. I am including pictures. The Rhodebar chick on the right is the chick in question. Sadly we lost the other to a dog. The picture below is The chick now, at 18 weeks. This chick...my daughter named it Chip...does not appear female to me. In fact, she..."it" crows all day. Now according to Google it is in fact possible and not even that uncommon for hens to crow. However, I'm pretty sure we have a Roo. Am I wrong in thinking as a chick it appeared to be a pullet? Any thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks in advance!![]()
