The RIDE IS OVER...UPDATE post #172 + 195!!!! < GREAT news

Well Jim, if you have to pass through MO on your way to Maine and need to rehome something, let me know. We would be happy to help ya out. I am so sorry to hear about this. Families need to realize that when it all comes down to it Family is really all you have and if you alienate family, man will you be lonely!

I am so glad I have a family on BYC, ((hugs)) to you both and the girls too. Even if you need a care package of Chocolate chip cookies or ham and cheese sandwiches and chippers, something to grab on the way through to save some $$. Let us know!

Have a safe trip and tell em off before you go! Makes you wanna burn the place down doesn't it! GRRRR

Fudgie, you and I think alot alike, I had the same thoughts about torching the place as soon as they are packed up and out of there, but then I'd have to fight my way out of Texas.

Of course I could always claim insanity or the devil made me do it, notice I didn't use the word temporary!

Maybe a nice sudden Termite infestation in all their homes?

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Jim.

I'll be the person on here to say I can understand that it it too difficult to take the birds with you. Don't feel bad about selling the whole flock if you need too, I can understand that this is a time when you need to be 'light on the feet', have some cash in hand, and be flexible, and sometimes it's ok to start all over. In fact, sometimes it's good to make major transitions in life and let go of lots of things. You might end up making bigger and better coops once you get set up in Maine!

Good luck~!

No,,, what you do,, you put fresh shrimp up inside the curtain rods,, down in the floor vents,, in the cooler vents, heck open a piece of the wall,, drop in the shrimp, then do a nice patch job and wave bye bye with a smile!

I totally agree with this,, and I'm trying to figure out how to do that too, maybe I just need something to happen to me and get me off my bum! No matter what I say, I do understand!

lol this poor old house. It already has termites, water damage, a shaky floor, no insulation, it's falling apart on its own. Needs no help from us, we were trying to save it, fix it right, and do a good thing with it. If they want to treat us like this, act like spoiled rotten children, so be it! Let this house fall down on them, how much will it be worth? Not near enough as they were thinking. Selling it to someone else for less then what is owed on it, that's just desserts enough for me! We were the ones that cared about this place, we see the potential possibilities, they only care about what they can get thier greedy hands on, so they can grab this all they want, they arent going to get what makes them happy, just a run down old house. This isnt a home anymore, and I definately want a home to raise my kids in.

I can't blame you for wanting a happy home for your family, that's for sure! What a shame that greed is involved.
Hugs to you all!
I've heard of the shrimp thing in the curtains too!

Agreed!

When economics forced me to suddenly move from my beloved Adirondacks to Maine, I had to give away my small flock of Chanteclers since I had no home for myself arranged and expected to be living in motels for some time until I could locate a suitable home. I knew little about Maine and knew no one here.

My old flock went to a community flock in the city of Albany, NY and some of those birds are still producing eggs. I sometimes visit them when I'm visiting my daughter there and they were featured in a book photo and on on the front page of a local paper when friends of my daughter wrote a book about urban sustainable living.

As it turned out, I spent about a month in motels and in a hostel in Maine until I found a great house-share situation that lasted a year. Then I found a great old house to rent and in the past year created the best garden I've ever had and established a small healthy and productive flock of Chanteclers.

It has taken me a year to re-establish myself as far as my gardening and poultry interests are concerned and it has been a great change since life is now on a more firm footing. Plans for the future, such as new bee hives, a small rabbitry and reviving my used book business have a realistic chance of success. My neighbors are great people, even to someone "from away" as I certainly am. I can't think of any place better to be "forced" to move to.

"Maine: The way life should be."
