Hey guys... yeah you ARE all offline. Shall I continue with my story? Maybe I shall! Seeing as nobody will TALK to me anywhere else.

The next time Icestar saw Delta, she was looking considerably more mature than she was before.
'What, has clan life got to you?' he teased.

Delta quickly laughed and the tension dissolved. 'Sorry, I guess I forgot to take my 'grumpy' face off!' she giggled and Icestar giggled along with her.
He'd had something on his mind for a while now, but didn't know if he was ready to bring it up with her. 'Do you want to try for chicks?'
Delta's eyes opened wide. 'Why! I'd love to!' she exclaimed, smiling at the icy blue rooster. With his beautiful feathers and her dark green sheen, they'd sure make sure pretty chicks.

The first egg was laid some time later. It was its mother's dark green, quite a large egg at that. The chick obviously had its father's size, that was for sure as Delta was quite a small hen.
Delta discussed the issue of names with her mate. 'Why, do you mind what we name it?'
'Well... I have always liked the name Raven... those birds seem to exude a resolved calmness, like everything is under control.'
Delta thought about it. 'Well, I'll find some way to make it seem natural that I chose that name. I'll try not to make any references to you!'

The answer landed right in her lap when her little son hatched - LeonIva was there with her, and she'd asked him about HIS father's name. It was 'RavenGrass.' Delta brightened. It was a lovely name, AND she could use it as 'inspiration'. Delta was glad LeonIva had been there to share the moment with her.
It was one of the few times Delta could let down and be her true cheery self - as any mother would be in those situations. She hoped to have more chicks with Icestar soon.

There was, however, the issue that little Raven chick would never know his father when he was growing up. Delta and Icestar decided that Raven would not meet his father until he was a mature warrior who would understand the dangers involved.
Many a time, Icestar had watched with Delta from the forest as their son played and flapped his wings in the tornadoes created by the wings of other chickens.
'He loves it,' Icestar would say.
'He's a born flyer!' Delta agreed.
'Where do you think he got it from?'
'Both of us, I'd say.'

Sometimes Icestar would feel a stab of longing for his child, but he knew that one day the time would come. For now, he was as happy as any new father could be.
