I lost my BO rooster about 2 months ago, he was such a sweetheart.

This is one of his sons, he is a mixed rooster, but so far he seems to have his dad's sweet personality.

My rooster Napoleon is mean to everyone but me, because he knows who is boss (me) and who isn't (him). He attacks people through the fence, and pulls at the fence like he's trying to break it open to get to you. BUT, even though he attacks people, he fights off hawks to protect his hens. One day i returned home from an outing to find feathers from him and a hen strewn across the lawn. A bit panicked, i counted everyone and they were all there. A hen had a minor wound. I suspect a hawk came down, grabbed the hen, and then he ran out and attacked the hawk, and won. Once while i was out of town, he pulled a tail feather out of a hawk. Even though he is mean, i am never eating him or giving him away. He earned his right to live!

I have a white leghorn rooster that just started crowing about a week and a half ago. He is so confused about when to crow. He was crowing at 10 pm tonight. When we got out of the truck after church today he started crowing as if to say, "Hey, I'm glad you'll are home. : ) It is so cool. He crows at any and every hour. Is this normal for leghorns.

My roo went outside and a chick followed, and the other 4 remained inside being lazy... I was sitting in the living room drinking tea when I heard the rooster doing an alarm call of "buk buk buk baaak buk!" and the chick started doing the same, but uh... It was tiny loud squeaks with an occasional long squeak! It was adorable. :lau

I went out to see what the flib startled them and there was a HUGE wood pigeon on the shed roof, which are basically flying chickens around here, the same size of the chickens, eyeing their scratch I tossed out for them. Both chickens quietened down after I walked out to see what was going on and the pigeon got some scratch of it's own tossed onto the shed roof for it, which it greedily gobbled up. :p

BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! My 10-week old rooster has started to crow, well learning to crow. It took me a little by surprise this AM :) Love watching them grow and change, so much fun.

None of mine have started crowing yet out of my suspected 3 baby roos out of the 5 chicks, but two of the suspected rooster chicks do start food-peeping (baby food chuckles) when they find something super tasty, like cheese. I believe the one that doesn't is either a tomboyish looking female chick, or a young greedy roo.

So far, I have at least one roo in my flock of 8 who is an EE. He was a surprise to me as they were all supposed to be pullets! And I am on the fence of 2 others at the moment.

His name WAS Maisey. That is until I saw / heard him attempt to crow a little over a week ago. Needless to say, the name Maisey was not going to work for a roo that meant that I had to come up with a new name. He's red head, like me and my youngest, so I thought of all the famous male ginger names that I liked. I used to love the HBO series Dexter, and he was a ginger, so his new name is now Dexter!

Dexter is a sweet roo that holds a grudge if he thinks you have done him a disservice. He is a few days short of 8 weeks old. He will stand up to my 4 bigger (3+ month old) girls who attempt to pick at his 3 brood mates. It's funny to watch him bow up to these girls that are 4 times his size. That is until they realize that they have the size advantage and put him in his place. As far as holding a grudge, he retaliates by hopping up in your lap for cuddles or atop your shoulder to perch and then proceeds to POOP all over you :barnie
Yep, he got me THREE times in a 15 minute period a few weeks ago for something that I didn't even do. Didn't matter though because in is eyes, I wasn't there to take care of him and his brood mates properly!!!
Dexter when he was still Maisey!
