So far, I have at least one roo in my flock of 8 who is an EE. He was a surprise to me as they were all supposed to be pullets! And I am on the fence of 2 others at the moment.
His name WAS Maisey. That is until I saw / heard him attempt to crow a little over a week ago. Needless to say, the name Maisey was not going to work for a roo that meant that I had to come up with a new name. He's red head, like me and my youngest, so I thought of all the famous male ginger names that I liked. I used to love the HBO series Dexter, and he was a ginger, so his new name is now Dexter!
Dexter is a sweet roo that holds a grudge if he thinks you have done him a disservice. He is a few days short of 8 weeks old. He will stand up to my 4 bigger (3+ month old) girls who attempt to pick at his 3 brood mates. It's funny to watch him bow up to these girls that are 4 times his size. That is until they realize that they have the size advantage and put him in his place. As far as holding a grudge, he retaliates by hopping up in your lap for cuddles or atop your shoulder to perch and then proceeds to POOP all over you
Yep, he got me THREE times in a 15 minute period a few weeks ago for something that I didn't even do. Didn't matter though because in is eyes, I wasn't there to take care of him and his brood mates properly!!!
Dexter when he was still Maisey!

Dexter looks so precious though! And don't worry, my silkie and quail babies poop on me all the time, you are not the only one. One time one of the chicks ran up to me, snuggled onto my lap all cute... Pooped, then ran off to forage. It is ESPECIALLY bad when I am tending to the quail for poopy butts or toes... I swear, baby button quail must poop in defense.
