I have had a bad experience with a barred once and hear negative things on hostility with them but you can still get a good roo out of a barred I'm sure

I kept my hen turned roo she thinks she's a roo bc of her hormones and challenges my actual roo through the fence, so she interacts and sees the others but separated by a fence, you could do that...

I think I will just have to give him away and keep my sons bird. Right now 3 bantams have crowed so that leaves me with just 3 bantam hens. The buff is starting to try and crow I think and the barred doesn't know what he wants to do yet lol just be cocky and chase everyone. I hope the questioned one crow before they leave here then I'll know for sure.
 
O.k. y'all I do need a little rooster knowledge if anyone has it on this subject. Cletus and the others turned two months old the seventh of this month, last night right before roost time. Cletus started fighting his hatch brother a little bit rough and I heard that funky adolescent "honk" out of him.Isn't he a little young for that? I figured I had at least a month before I had to even think about that happening. He surely can't be becoming a man this soon, or can he? Im so freaking confused with this boy.

Not to freak you out, but I've had cockerels begin to "crow" as early as 2-3 weeks (although it sounds like little kazoo). 8 weeks old is not too early, IMHO. (It varies with breed and speed of maturity, of course - I've had others that took months.)

I love roosters. I used to hate the thought of having one. Now, I love to hear them crow. I love how they protect their ladies. Their bravado is something to admire and giggle about. I had a Buff Orpington Rooster we named Elvis after frostbite took his comb. He used to flog us, but one day I stopped running from him and brought a huge wooden broom handle stick out with me and he pecked that thing until he hurt himself. From then on I just brought the stick out with me and he just stayed back. He started eating out of my hands eventually. My favorite chicken of all time was a silly banty roo named Brownie who did a sweet strutting dance up on his chicken tractor until I'd pick him up and carry him around the yard. He followed me everywhere and would fly out of their yard every time I stepped outside. An owl took him out. He was the coolest, especially for one of the game bantams.
