The saddest article you will ever read

That was definitely very sad. One of the many reminders of how broken and harsh humanity is. I think the problem is, the egg and meat industry is too big. There is too much demand for it, so people have to supply it in the easiest way possible, which isn't good for the chickens.

I think one of the saddest parts is this: No federal laws protect chickens in the United States. They are excluded from the Animal Welfare Act and from the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act.

There isn't a whole lot we can do about those particular chickens, but we can decide how we treat our hens and where we source our eggs and meat.
