The saddest songs??

I could probably think of alot of songs right now. I know this will sound strange but one of the saddest songs for me is "Cold Heart" by Hank Williams Sr. I went through a Hank Williams phase awhile back and I bought a cd of his greatest hits and no one can tug at your heartstings like ole Hank the original torch and twang singer. He just had a way of phrasing that really got to you. Patsy Cline is like that too.
There is a Pink Floyd song that get to me and I am not a big fan of theirs and I don't know if the title was "Wish you were here"?

For me it is "Fix You" by Cold Play. This came out right around the time I found out our son that I was carrying would be born with serious life threatening heat defects. The OB's told me he would not make it to term, the Cardiologists gave me some hope. He had a rough road but he is doing great now! We played the song in his video that I made for his first birthday.

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
and ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

High up above or down below
when you're too in love to let it go
but If you never try you'll never know
Just what your worth

Lights will guide you home
and ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears streaming down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears streaming down your face and I

Tears streaming down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face and I

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

I'll second:
Hate Me - Blue October
Teddy Bear - Red Sovine
Last Kiss - any version
Alone Again - Gilbert Sullivan
You Are My Sunshine

WILL NOT listen to - Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton I will walk out of the room, store whatever - I would emotionally have a TOTAL & complete melt down if I ever heard the whole thing, I am crying just thinking about it.

I'll add:
Grandfathers Clock
In the Ghetto - Elvis Presley
Cat's In The Cradle & the Silver Spoon - any version
Honey - Bobby Goldsboro

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

That song by Kelly Pickler about movin on to Tennesee.

That is actually one of the songs that got me to start liking country music - it has a happy ending, although you do get a bit teary...

I think the most pathetically sad song is "I can't make you love me" by Bonnie Raitt.
