The Silver Laced Wyandotte Thread

Pics
Here is our SLW. She does have a lot of lacing now at 17 weeks. She's looking pretty good for hatchery as well. She does have a few white splotches here and there though.

The SLW's are such beautiful chickens!!!

He is a pretty boy but wouldn't do to well at the shows. He has more of a squirrel tail with a slimmer body build versus the Wyandotte heart shape. His color isn't bad but he would be better with stronger white on his breast. The only other flaw i can see from this picture is his comb at the end pokes up rather than conforms to the head but this is a minor flaw. If you plan to breed or show I would look for a different male. Type is the hardest attribute to correct in a bird. If he had the preferred type I would say he was a keeper.

Im not worried about showing..was just curious to see if he was a decent bird or not. He is huge! And takes very good care of his girls! And thats good enough for me :)

Good to know he is a good protector and a good guy to his girls. I feel like that is what makes a good rooster :).

Update photos! Now seven weeks-a pullet or cockerel?

Definitely Pullet

Picture of 2 of my roosters; Copernicus (left) and Oppenheimer (right). Silly birds walk side by side pretending to eat then stand chest to chest really close to the fence giving each other the stink eye. After that they go back to walking side by side. Oh the dramas of being a rooster lol.
