The Sizzle Thread!

Wanted to share a picture of my little frizzled sizzle, Elsa. I've named her already because I'm about 75% sure she's a little pullet. She's got a nice round crest of feathers just my last hen had I hatched out.

Excuse the sideways shape of her crest below, it was really windy out when I took these pictures LOL

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Thanks paris! That's some great info, now I know to get a plain roo when I get my sizzle/frizzle girls :)
ahh, BUT, if you want more 'bang' for your buck you get one frizzled rooster and have him cover a bunch of silkie hens! i am hoping my blue (unfortunate colour, but what i got) walnut combed frizzled chick (who can be shown) is a boy. most my other frizzled sizzles have a single comb..i think, some are still young. my only other frizzled sizzle with a proper comb is a white showgirl and i think that one is a hen. it seems the comb is one of the last hold outs from their frizzled background.

Good idea, although I'm not the greatest fan of silkies, I quite like regular soft feathered birds, and the frizzle makes them snazzy(and unable to fly?). They'll be in my rabbitry keeping flies and bugs to a minimum and mixing up the "compost" so I'm trying to find something interesting and ground-level-bound.
Why is blue an unfortunate colour?

yes, silkies and sizzles fly like water balloons, and they dont know they cant fly so some take stupid jumps and hurt themselves. if you are not a fan of silkies, why in the sizzle thread? why not frizzle-lots of birds can be frizzled. if you cross a silkie with a hard feather bird they produce 'hard feather' offspring--but in my experience they are softer hard feathers, my F2 showgirl was hard feathered but ,wow, were they soft!

blue is unfortunate since it will interfere with my paint breeding and dilute the black genes in so many others. i want true lavender and dont want blue/splashes to mess up my lines-can you imagine how much of a mess a paint silkie splash would be? how do you know you really have a paint unless you look right away at the skin, and not all paints have white skin patches at birth,.

Actually that's a lie I like silkies lol, I like the Silkies with frizzled feathers most though, I like the top knots and beards and frizzly ones are even better, so I can have a normal Silkie roo and a bunch of frizzly girls and make lots of frizzly Silkie babies :D would that work?

oh yes, well 'lots' is a factor of attempts, isn't it? i dont know if they truly reproduce like the punnett squares predict (50/50) because of that suppressor spoken of in the book quote.
