So I have another quick question. I have a black sizzle rooster ( that looks like a pinecone) and a kahki sizzle rooster ( that looks like a silkie). I also have 4 cochin hens as well as some cochin/silkie mixes. I know that I can put my mixes (smooth feathered of course) in with my sizzle boys, but what about my cochin girls? What would I get if I put them in with my sizzle roosters? Or would that be a big project?
If it was me I would like to see the khaki silkie feathered sizzled roo, with the strait forward Cochin girls. And the the black roo that looks like a pine cone with your silkie mix hens.
It should balance your groups out that way.
the main idea with a good sizzle (silkie-frizzle cross) is a to have it look like a silkie- black skin, five toes, crest, ext. but with frizzle feathered. Smooth, rough (frizzled), silkie and frizzled silkies are all posible outcomes and all considered excepted parts of the sizzle family. Smooth are a very important part of improving your birds, remembering that you shouldn't mate a friz with a friz. But... It has been thought that the smooth offspring that has frizzle in the family tree, Will improve your chances of getting frizzled offspring when mated back to frizzled.
