he is handsome. Thanks for your pic. I was feeling a little sensitive when I read the comment from last reader. Are they considered crosses or sizzles?

As I understand it, Sizzles ARE crosses. They have to be.
There are frizzled and non-frizzled but it's about genes and breeding to meet a 'standard' of desirable characteristics.
I'm sure the group will correct my mis-information.

Sizzles, as of now, are still in project phase. They are not an accepted breed (yet, but there are lots of folks trying to get them there!). The initial cross is typically a Silkie with some kind of frizzled bird. Cochins are probably most commonly used because they have similar type to Silkies. After that first cross, you would want to breed back to Silkies because those are the traits wanted for Sizzles (black skin, 5 toes, crest, ect). Basically you're making a Silkie with hard feathers, whether they be frizzled or smooth. I hope that helps clear things up a bit
