The Sizzle Thread!

So out of my last hatch, a good 3 or so are showing signs of frizzling One is the cutest colour!

Well 1st thing this morning I went out to have a cigarette since we do not smoke in the house, Still dark and the sun just starting to lighten things up.
all of a sudden I hear this sound like one of the birds were dying!!! I had no clue if something got in the pens or what so I run down getting tore up by saw palmettos on the way!

In the little bit of light I see Dweezle my blue sizzle flapping around play fighting with my grandsons black silkie and then he runs in a couple circles and tries to crow!
It sounds like some one trying to strangle a cat while playing the violin LOL

My little boy is growing up and crowing before Marys Spanish LOL Now we just have to get him and my blue splash silkie together and fix his flaws for some nice blue sizzle babies

I thought I would post some pictures of my two sizzles, which obvioulsy do not have the sizzle featering. I wanted to find out what you call their feathering. Then the next question is if I breed them to a silkie what is my percentage outcome to get a sizzle?

This one is a boy. He is already crowing. Sounds like a broken squiky toy:





Not sure on the sex of this one,but looks the same in feathering:




Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I really dont know much about the breeding on sizzles.

I would be interested in knowing too. But, no matter what you get, you can't go wrong. They're all cute.

Bread to a silkie you will get either silkie feathering or frizzled silkie feathering but most likely will not get barbed feathering or frizzled barbed feathering.

These are called Frilkies - and are frizzled silkies, but not sizzles.

Thanks foe clearing that up. Very confusing. So my chances of getting a sizzle feathered bird if I pair with a Silkies is zero . Just want to make sure. The first one so far seems like a nice decent black and I wanted to pair up with one of my paints that is about the same age right now to get a sizzle paint. Thought that would be fun. I am glad to hear they are not barbed feathering.

I have a quick question. I have 4 sizzles, one with smooth feathers( thinking roo) two with silkieish feathering( thinking one girl one boy). These three are a kahki color?? The fourth one is black and looks like a pin cone(thinking girl). I have read that you should only breed certain colors to certain colors. I want to breed these to one or two of our silkies as well, but I just wondered what colors to breed too and what would I end up getting?

I can’t help you on the color question but I put a dark buff Silkie over two partridge Sizzles and a light buff Sizzle. Then put A Blue Splash Silkie Roo over the same three hens just to see what I would get. I ended up with some really interesting colored chicks and I’m excited to see what they look like when they are older.

I’ll also say that if you were to breed your Smooth boy with your frizzled barbed feathered (porky pine looking girl) you will get the highest percentage of frizzled barbed feathered chicks.
