THE SMOKERS QUIT CAMPAIGN - ADDITONAL NOTES

Quote:
Is this a good way to quit? Does it make the nicotine withdrawal go easier? Sounds like it would be effective anyway, save some crankiness, but EC's entitled. She has to deal with us everyday.

I don't think it would make the nicotine withdrawal go easier, but there are 2 addictions with cigarettes. There's the nicotine addiction (OMG, I need a smoke or I am gonna slap someone); and theres the smoking habit ( I just finished eating, so I need a smoke)
With cutting back, you'd be hitting both levels- changing your habit, and decreasing the amount of nicotine you take in. Easier? probably not. But quitting just the same.
Yes, I'd say EC is entitled, putting up with you LOL

I am so proud of all of you and me too...lol I haven't been online very much, sorry. The headaches have been kicking my butt. I have had one every night for the past several nights and I go straight to bed, when I feel one coming on. I am hoping that I do not get one tonight or ever again.

Keep up the good work.

Just checking in to give you all some support!! I've been thinking about you and hope you're doing well! Keep up the good work and it does get a little easier with each day passing!!

Well how is everyone doing on the campaign?

Lilbizzy has gone 152 hours without the dreaded "butt" WELL DONE Lilbizzy ?

Now what about everyone else.........Come on tell me!

I am doing good...down to 4 a day now...next week will be 3 a day.......But I have noticed since I started to wean that my wheeze has gotten worse! and I feel more breathless.......??? must be all the "junk" trying to remove itself from my lungs....... but I am feeling better! So there ya go playmates.

I've only just spotted this post and want to say fantastic to everyone who is givng it a go. I stopped smoking about seven years ago now and I don't say that to sound smug, I say it knowing how difficult it can be to ditch the
dreaded ciggie. I made several attempts to quit over the years stopping at one time for two years and then fell back into it. One thing I've learnt is not to beat yourself up if you do fall back. Good on you all for doing it and I wish you so much luck.

Joanna.

I'm so proud of all of you deciding to take this leap together

Its a tough road but SOOOOO worth it in the end, trust me. You will breath better, you will feel better, food will taste better and you will be amazed at what you can actually smell when you finally do quit.

I'll be 5 years out come June/July this year and I did it cold turkey. Was hard, but sooooo worth it. Now I smell a ciggy and
sickbyc.gif
I used to be one of those smokers that didnt think I smelled or my clothes smelled - guess what? I was wrooooooooong. We do smell, our hair smells, clothes, everything. Never smoked in my house though always outside, or my car. My taste changed and things I used to enjoy eating became either too sweet or too salty

or just didnt taste right all together (like that spaghetti sauce or soup I've only been making for years and years..did it always taste so oniony? LOL) you end up cutting way back on alot of spices and whatnot.

EC - yes that "breathless" feeling will pass - its normal. I know exactly what you're talking about. Its unnerving to say the least, but your lungs are recovering

Just think - 5 years after you quit smoking - its like you never smoked at all if you dont touch another one!

GO GO GO!!

Well, if I can make it to 6:00 PM, I will have been "smokeless"for a full week! I wish I could say that the cravings are easing off; but not yet. I bought some nicotine lozenges; but I have only used two.(I don't really like them.) I'm hoping things will get better this next week. Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still "onboard".

Good luck to all!!
We can do it!!
