1cocks 2 hens,I have no dogs ,so i do all the protection my self ,i was brought up as a kid with a houndsman family so we had lotsa dogs ,as I grew up i wasnt a big fan of barking and dogs, so I chose not to have any ,i had pyrenees but didnt like them they would wander off if not behind electric stock fence ,im not totally against getting 1 puppy to grow up and protect the chicken flock.

Besides raising chickens we had an active kennel with, pitbulls, beagles, basset hounds, cocker spaniels, Boston terriers, jack Russell's, pugs and a couple other terriers. I understand wanting to get away from the noise lolol
