Think about it. Any self-respecting arrogant bad guy like Zeus is going to put a self-destruct mechanism. Very predictable. But there's no way to activate it internally. Poseidon must have modified it so that he could detonate it remotely, hopefully killing Zeus and Ares.

How do you figure this stuff out?!

Experience and movies. I get the feeling that Poseidon has seen the movies too. It's gotta be boring just waiting on board a giant battleship.
