Hi I am a new mama to a Sultan. She is pure white gorgeous gal we call Marilyn because of her beautiful feathers. I will post pictures of her later. I am so glad I found this thread!!
There are so many things out there that they can catch. One of my girls got sick, and we got her the only med in our store, Sulmet. We treated everyone for two days and she bounced back, though she wasn't as bad as your girl soundsThey were both fine the next day. They were eating, drinking, and otherwise fine, just a bit tender in one leg. One was a silkie who is very chill and laid back and the other was my silly nearly rumpless polish. He is a flyer, though, and likes to try and push his way out the door, so he could have done it any sort of ways. No lumps, bumps, or eye changes. They have been fine ever since I put up the extra barrier.
I don't know if Raja will make it though. It presented as limping, but I think it is actually just weakness that was causing her to sort of hobble about. I went out again to sit with them and bring them some scratch to peck at. Raja was down again and was sort of interested in the scratch. She still hasn't figured scratch out. She rarely figures out treats, so nothing unusual there. She seemed bright and with it, like earlier.
She tried to run from me when I went to pick her up as I had brought out a syringe to give her some electrolytes and a bit of vitamins mixed in. When I caught her she realized she was safe and then sort of collapsed in my arms like she was exhausted. She's been down ever since. I got about 1/3 of the syringe down, carefully dropping a bit at a time so she didn't aspirate.
I didn't feel comfortable leaving her there so I brought her in, where she continued with being passed out and very tired/sick. She'll crack an eye open when I move around. I gave her a bath, which she barely protested, and dried her off before blow drying. She pooped, but it was a yucky bile looking one.![]()
I've got her in a box, in my lap, or on my chest as I lay down to watch TV and she just nestles into me. I have been giving her more liquids through a syringe like before, I redosed her with some Nutri-Drench and I'm trying to keep her hydrated. I'm really worried about her, though. This is so unlike her, and exactly how my sick Polish started except he had an eye closed instead of limping. After a bath and the same TLC he bounced back a bit weak but fine. He's now strutting the yard like normal. They both like to sit in the same areas together. I have no idea what is going on. Did they eat something bad? Were they exposed to something?
