the sultan thread

We have a sultan rooster and 1 hen. We would like to buy two hens. Any suggestions? We live in the Twin Cities, MN
You might contact the livestock conservancy since they do the census on endangered livestock. Jeanette Baranger there said they haven't done a census in a while but she feels there are less than 50 breeding flocks in this country. Point being, she does know of 50 breeding flocks.

Good luck to you. Wonderful little chickens!

I thought I posted to the Sultan thread, must have been another LOL

We have 5 3mth old beauties!. I've absolutely fallen in love with this breed...They are so sweet and docile, like living dolls that like to sit on my lap and I love that they do that...For non-aggressive birds, they'll take on a polish for a spot on my leg! ;-)

Couple of my fav pics, I take a lot of them of these beauties...

We lost th largest one, but the smaller is just insane, I swear it is eith going to go for my teeth or just listening when you hold it up and talk to it, it just looks inquisitively turning it's head from side to side. But loud...OMG...all the time. If it continues to just continue this way I'm not going to be able to keep it. I hope with age it chills a bit

im sorry for your loss

A lot of people on here have one, two or three of this breed. Is anyone breeding LF? Where is everyone getting their stock? This is a pretty rare breed.

# 1 is a rooster, you can tell by the patchy feathering that will continue until around three months. At around three months he will molt his baby feathers and then will fully feather into a beautiful boy! Until then those Sultan boys are in a constant state of puberty...
Our boy just lost his mate to a hawk attack. We feel so badly for him. Sultans love their mates in a big way!!
