no,not morbid at all. I thought I would find puncture wounds on her somewhere if it had been a hawk and I couldnt find a one. Originally that's what I had thought as well, but there wasnt much damage done to her. The comb was more damaged that anything else it seemed. and her eyes were kinda black and blue. It looked almost like she had gotten hit by something.

It's hard losing someone that close. Thank God we haven't lost a chicken to a predator since we stopped free-ranging.
When my sister was 10 she went to get her chicken (Rayzu was her name) to take to the little neighbor girls house as she always did and found her in the coop on her back with her chest eaten out.
Maybe a Chicken Hawk (as my great-grammy called them) got poor Sundance through the fence or whatever you have surrounding them?

Darn predators!!

I'm so sorry about your pretty girl, Sundance. I understand how hard it is not knowing what caused the injury. I suppose she could have died from the shock rather than her actual wounds.
