I also like the majority am for the ability to own a gun. We also have a few in the home which are locked up when not needed. I truly think the government had quite going after the good guys with guns and start looking for the bad guys with bombs. Guns have been pushed to the back burner for mass distruction. Why have a gun when you can use a plane???? There are so many other problems that are so much bigger that they really need to focus on. I realize that the gangs will always carry but in general they shoot each other. Only once in a while do innocent people get caught in the cross fire. I will always have a gun and whether it is legal or not it will stay. Jenn

I have to say, I am personally afraid of guns probably because I do not know how to handle one properly.

But, I am glad that we have the right to have one according to our Constitution. It appears that our US Consitutional rights are being stripped by our Federal Gov. especially since 9/11. These are not the rights of the "terrorists." They are USA citizens' rights.

I think I'll go get some gun training now!.......

At time of this writing, it would be hard to argue that they wouldn't have allowed the citizenship to own ANY kind of weapon they wanted.

That being typed, I have NO problem if any community passed laws forbidding ownership of guns (see how they cleaned up Dodge City, etc). This is a democracy and the rights of the many will be followed over the few. Don't like how a community wants to live, MOVE or get enough people to side with you that the law can be changed.

I own guns but I don't want them or people carrying them anywhere near a school or community event.

I have a feather weight 38 Special andDHhas a 9mil. with permits.We also have shotguns and rifles, but I see no use in any way for an assault rifle that will fire 45 rounds in a min. shotguns and rifles are used for hunting. and with an asault rifle all you can hunt is human, THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE IN. and Yes I do believe in the 2nd amendment, for once the Supreme court got it right. marrie

The police cannot be everywhere all the time & when they do get to a bad scene, it is often too late for so many.

Having trained "good guys" with guns could possibly deter some of the criminals who have absolutely no qualms about murdering our young people at these schools or other places where they know there are "no guns allowed."

I apologize for this........We were asked to not debate but to state opinions...

We do have "good guys" with weapons, they are called police and military. Schools need them to frisk incoming students? sad situation our country is in.

I also applaud the Supreme Court decision but I'm very wary of the close 5-4 split. We are one Obama victory away from two or three more younger liberal anti-gun candidates to replace current justices up for retirement. People can deride GW Bush all they want. I personally love the guy and loved his Court appointees, John Roberts especially. Without them, this decision could have been the start of a crazy string of legal dominoes.

I purchased my first firearm (a varmint exterminating .22 rifle) in the past few months at the age of 41. Although, I do not consider myself a gun person by any means, I am absolutely in favor of personal gun ownership and also interpret the constitution as an absolute defense of this right.

Having lived in urban areas my whole life until now, I have largely ignored this issue. I now realize what a mistake that was. I plan on celebrating my second ammendment constitutional right by adding to my cache and joining the NRA.
