The Supreme Court's Gun Ruling This Week - Not A Debate

Oblio, in larger towns, all people walk through metal detectors, plus they have police assigned at the entrances and exits. In Chicago area, teachers and students are locked in--now that would be a scary thing to be locked in with local gang members....

Again, bad people will do bad things and you won't stop a determined person.

Isn't it reasonable to not want some sudo John Wayne thinking a gun is his only protection and firing into a group of kids? Only in movies do you shoot them right between the eyes. Worried about your personal safety? take a self defense course, pump iron, etc....

I'll give up my weapons when crime is abolished or I get a personal secret service security detail, whichever comes first.

After the Court's decision on Friday, the NRA filed suit against the Chicago municipality. Seems there is a weapons ban on ownership in Chicago's Public Housing. I currently have my Va CCP and still have my NY CCP (havent been asked to surrender it yet) and cannot wait til they go after New York City's Sullivan Law. Always thought it was amazing to have a NY CCP and couldnt take a gun into NYC! I think we will see a lot of these lawsuits coming and rightfully so. IMHO lol

If you live in an area that bans guns, you will openly defy the law? If they would allow you to be policeman, would you enforce the law if you pulled over someone branishing a weapon? In a school setting, how would you identify the good guys packing vs bad guys packing? Or is it every man for himself or in this case child?

I think what is lacking here is your knowledge of firearms, and the responsibility and weight that some CCWers carry.

I don't think anybody that carries thinks they are going to save the day with guns blazing. I dread the day that I may fire my own weapon to save a life. I do not look forward to that, and I'll avoid it if I can at nearly all costs.

If I was in an active shooter situation, I think it would be swell if someone was able to shoot back at them, even more so if kids were around.

And your self defense/pump iron stuff... There will always be a bigger fish then yourself out there. A gun can level the playing field. What do you say to a 5' 2" woman when she is cornered by a 6' male?

Realize that nobody's safety is free nor guaranteed. Those of us with carry permits understand that, and whether you like (or understand) it or not, you are better off for it.

I highly recommend these activities. The problem with this is no matter how buff you are your muscle will not deflect bullets coming from a criminals illegal firearm.(remember criminals break laws for a living) Your buffness will not deflect knives. How are you to stop someone buffer or better armed than you from raping or killing someone. You can call law enforcement They will do their job too. They will clear the crime scene, do the investigation, get the coroner out and write the report. They will not save you the damage is done before they get there.

I think that very soon you will see that anybody that continues to ban guns will be in violation of the law and if you happen to live in one of these cities or towns that try to fight it, you can expect your taxes in that township/city to go up!

This question isn't towards me directly, but I can answer it.

Here's the beautiful thing... You could pass me on the street and have no idea that I'm carrying. Someone would only know if I got careless and printed (happens sometimes, but nobody has noticed yet except maybe my dad and Silkiechicken).

Also, it's unusual for bad guys to use holsters. Funny fact, but very true!

So, in a school setting, I'd identify the bad guy as the one who pulls their weapon and fires upon innocent people. I'd identify good guys as those who pull their weapon and shoot the bad guy. I guess that about sums it up, but yes, this can become an interesting situation.

ETA: You can also check who the good guy is by requesting to see their concealed carry permit

This information also shows up when you run their drivers license.

So you would allow gang members or students to carry guns? I don't want these people carrying guns around my kids and I don't think I'm in the minority on that one; not even close.

For those that say I don't know anything about guns, understand I own and use guns. I also know you don't hit the exact spot you are firing at. Also firing at a human is much different than firing at a target especially if the human is firing at you. Get real, this isn't the movies....
