IN my opinion they are very slow growing. I even wrote the breeder that I bought my eggs from to see if there might be something wrong with them and she told me that they take a long time but grow up strong and big and mine did so I believe her. Good luck with your babies!

Speckled sussex are smaller than delawares so they will seem slow growing compared to them.
Other than that, they should not be a noticable difference with the other breeds.

Here are the 6 week pictures of my 2 pretty-sure-they're-girls. The first 2 pictures are of my tiny girl who is so light that I barely feel her purched on my finger. The last 2 pictures are of the one that I was suspicious about for a while.

They are really nice looking chicks. I'm no expert but the first thing I noticed was the yellow legs!!!!!. As far as I know they should have white legs. Sounds like they have the personality of a sussix. Hope you get some, Im sure you will enjoy them. Your chicks could be a Delaware cross The Dels have the same color as the light sussix but do have yellow legs.

My friend gave me a Light Sussex and "she" was adorable - kept following me around the garden! Although after a month or so, "she" had not layed a single egg, grew too big to fit in the coop and started crowing, so we had to give him back. Shame really - he was stunning.
