Sorry to bother but hoping someone can direct me to where I might buy just one sexed female Speckled Sussex chick.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks so much.

Up here, the feed stores carry chicks in the spring. They do not always know which breeds are coming when, but they can usually tell you which breeds are currently in their brooders. Some people also sell extra chicks via Craigslist. It's not good to have only ONE chick, though. If you're buying it to be a companion for another "lonely only," you will have to make sure they're very close in age. (A week is a huge difference to a day old, but not so bad for a 7 & 8 week old.)

Another option is to find someone local willing to split a hatchery order. Lastly, be very cautious about adding to your flock & practice strict quarantine measures. The threat of Avian flu has spread beyond the west coast.

bah...no I have resources for the other chicks.
I may just go with the site I JUST found (http://chickensforbackyards.com/ = yay for backyard chicken help!)...unless the local guy has what we need - I'll know on Sunday!...just trying to line up resources so my youngest (Sussex requested!) isn't disappointed.
All chicks at same time...I wish there was more than One local resource....but I haven't found one... haven't looked at Craigslist. Thanks!

Try looking for a local thread here on BYC. There may be someone near you. Chicken people are the best & willing to answer all your questions. Living in the suburbs, I thought I was the only one with chickens, but I soon discovered 3 other families in my town. Now we can give a heads up to each other when there's a sale at the feed store or other vital news. LOL

Hi everyone, I just hot my very first speckled sussex ever. I have never felt with this breed before but I hear they are friendly breeds and they are just beautiful!. I hear they are pretty good layers.... Anyway here is my pretty little girl. (At least hoping I have a girl) looks like a pullet to me, what about y'all?
Here she is

As you can see her upper part of her beak is not straight, but it doesn't seem to be hendering her. I know you don't want to use her for breeding but I think she's Perfect other wise!
