I have some Coronation Sussex X Lav Orpington mixes due to hatch tomorrow. Can't wait to see what they look like.

Does anyone know if the Coro Sussex take a little longer to incubate because of their huge size? Right now, my purebred orps are pipped (& peeping eggs), but all the CS are the same.

This is one of my SS/marans mixes. Any opinions on how it's feathering out? It has clean legs, except for one tiny feather on its outside toe on one foot. I don't know what the chicks are supposed to look like.

I couldn't say what the chicks should look like, with every crossbreed you will get a variety of different looking chicks hatching. Some might have heavily feathered legs whereas other like your have very minimal feathering or even lack it altogether on their legs. Will be interesting to see what it turns into!

It's probably unfounded, but I keep getting concerned that I won't be able to tell it from the pure SS in the future. I'm sure I will, though. It would be nice to have the pretty speckles in the laying flock. Its genetic sibling is black and yellow, like a marans chick should be.
