The Sussex thread!

I love the Speckled Sussex Breed the best. I whited to buy them this year but no one had any this year so next spring I will get some girls. I had one of the SS 20 years ago and loved her till I had to get rid of her to go to school. I wanted chickens but couldn't have any till this year. I wanted the SS but they didn't have any at the feed store this year. So I got a different breed this year.

That's so freakin' cute! I wish ours was that friendly, she is so pretty but doesn't like to be touched. lol

Awwwww.....we have a few like that, too. I guess we're (us chicken people) just very lucky to have some super sweet ones when they happen to come along. Thankfully, most of the chickens in our flock of 38 are friendly.

I did get some from a breeder in the middle of the state and one is laying now? I'm waiting on the other one to start.

Got my first "squat" from my little Sussex! That means any day now, right?!

Yep mine took a few weeks and one is laying but the other is getting there.

She looked so confused, like "Why am I doing this?". I've gotten the "Egg Song" from her for about two weeks now, too. Hopefully, when she DOES lay, it's in the nest boxes and we don't have to go searching around the yard for random eggs!

Here's Sweetie. She's the result of a Coronation Sussex x Lav Orpington. Basically looks like a lav orp with a slightly smaller comb. Super personality!
