The Sussex thread!

So adorable! Is she a house chicken?

Well, not normally, but today she thinks she is! Lol Our "flock" is only 5 and we have all hardwood floors, so if the weather gets too hot, we let them in for a bit to cool off. (At least until I get tired of following them around with Clorox wipes) It was a bad habit to start because now they sneak in every chance they get. We tried the diapers, but they all freaked out pretty bad, started walking in reverse... Lol We're hatching some Seramas and bantam silkies right now. We plan on keeping one of each and they may or may not become house chickens. We are absolutely crazy chicken people. ;)

Awwww....that's so sweet that you let your girls in sometimes. I don't think you're crazy at all for wanting to keep a chicken or two in the house; I almost and would have kept my Blue Runner as a house duck had the situation been right.

How cool that you are going to have a Serama! They're so lovely.

I don't find that crazy at all!
Our chickens come in for a little TV break (towel over the lap, of course).
BTW- This roo is huge, but the camera angle makes him look even bigger.

They also like to be read to. Here's my daughter doing her "chicken math."

Since they're part of the family, the kids insisted on having them in some of our Christmas photos.

Those pictures are adorable! Wow! That rooster IS huge! Lol! So handsome too! I love friendly Roos. They always make me laugh. So jealous! Now you have me wanting to do our family Christmas cards with our chickens in the picture too! I'm totally going to put Santa hats on them. Lol ;)

We just sort of stumbled on to ours, but they ended up being our favorite breed so far. It took them a while, but they're very friendly and curious. We just love them.

Sorry to post all the Orpington, EE, & Bielefelder pics on the Sussex thread, but we love & spoil them all.

Here's our part Sussex mix. She's chatty & lovable. Also a camera hog! Her name is Precious.

Why take a pic of any other hen when precious is around?

This was our only 'purebred' - a Coronation Sussex. Hope - nickname "Supper Chicken" due to a typo.

Supper Chicken in her hero cape.
