Sevin dust works great if you dust their bottoms with it, and for good measure you can also use a few drops of the ivermectin pour on on the chicken's neck, near where its back meets to kill the suckers. It's also good to let them have a box for dust bathing in that has some diatomaceous earth powder (food grade). But I recommend Sevin if you aren't eating the eggs for a week or two.

Thought I'd post my Silver Sussex pair.

They have their faults but considering how rare they are I'm happy to have them.

I have 19 eggs in the 'bator so hoping for some chicks soon even though some are getting rather old.

She started laying at just over 20 weeks and lays an egg a day which makes me very happy.

Trying to sit on my hands till day 7 to candle, it's sure hard! My first time incubating home laid eggs.

I have only had my light spilt to coro since last fall 16 pullets. I'm am starting to get disappointed in them because they are really bad about being broody. Over half of them are broody right now and I'm trying to get them broke up but they are very persitant. I really like this breed but they still have to some what pay there way by laying eggs, Is any one else having this problem??????????

Can't help you with the broodies, I want my girls to go broody so they can raise their own young. Much easier than brooding them indoors.

HELP!!!!!

Having a little issue telling chicks apart. Our incubator was getting full so I asked a hatchaholic to help me out. (jenscott). We had four orders of Buff Sussex eggs set at Jen's along with some Buff Chanteclers. Have no count yet, but we have Buff chicks everywhere! many do have a single comb, so we have at keast 24+ Buff sussex chicks. these are from Greenfire and Canadian lines. Can't wait till they get feathered out.

May make the extra males available, but will not sell any girls!

Hi, I'm new to the speckled sussex, but I have 6 on order from mypetchicken can anyone tell me - I know I'ts a little late now- but can anyone tell me where they get there ss from? now I'm all worried about if I should have orderd form them or not, the main reason is they will send just a few at a time and I know from past experience that I can get very carried away -chicken math- and I promised my DH that I would not do it again.... any way I love the look of these sweeties,

and can't wait to get my hands on them. next spring I will order eggs from as close as I can and incubate them. I have some banties in the" bator "right now.
