yes you should I have one that is 6 weeks old he has little wattles and a pink comb

hentymes there is a lot of variance in the color. not all of the birds are the perfect mahogany shade. I have one that I can't wait to see how she finishes out right now she looks Mille Flur ( can't spell) anyway she is cool , not up to the standard but I like her.

Thanks, I swear I have been back and fourth, back and fourth. I beleive I have 6 pullets then.........as no one has really visible wattles but they do have a redish look to thier combs.....but NO wattles. I still might sway in the wind for a few more weeks..........UGH

I've found that with Speckled Sussex they are much harder to tell than with other breeds. I hatched some other breed along with my SS and I could tell 4 weeks ago what they were and still not sure about them!!

So I will sway in the wind and in the mean time calibrating leg size, feather lengh/color and looking for wattles and or redness

she is the nicest pullet we have ever had. She even allows my 2 year old cousin come pick her up and "play" with her.

It was really muddy the day I took this picture and that is what is on her comb and beak.

Watch where you walk . . .. . They will be right at your feet and trip you. They are leaders, not followers.

Mine are stalkers

We do chores w/a 4wheeler, toting a trailer with stuff. They "chase" us all around the pasture while we're riding between coops and then proceed to crawl all over the 4wheeler, trailer, us...

But we love em!!!
