I'm seeing a lot of comb development in one of my four week old chicks. Is this an indicator of sex? Or do the combs just grow at different rates?
 
Hmm. I couldn't find 4-week pics, but here are two 5-week olds. The female is in the foreground with the yellow-ish, smaller comb and the male is in the background with a slightly larger comb that is beginning to pink.

ETA: You can also see the tiniest hint of wattles coming in on the boy.

I wanted to put out there that I'm quite interested in both red and brown Sussex if anyone has any available...or will have them available. thanks

They should have Red. I did find Red at Sand Hill Preservation. I only have Speckled and Split Coronation.
