The Svart Hona (Swedish Black Hen) Thread!

For any of you who are interested or who haven't already found it, I have 10+ Svart Hona eggs up for auction on Rarebreed Chickens Sell/Swap Page on Facebook.

Steve N Blaze, the birds are very, very rare in the United States right now. Besides my own flock, I only know of one unrelated flock, and one flock which obtained birds from me last year.
The eggs are a tinted white, and yes, the yolks are yellow :)

I just recently bought two pairs from Green Fire Farm and they are look like him. They are black in and out and beautiful. They are certified as wells.

No special diet required just very good feed with access to grass and bugs. However if you use a feed with marigold extract in it, you might find that it can cause more mulberry to show. Thus is true even with other breeds. Marigold extract is commonly added to make yolks orange.

So excited. Yesterday I set 9 Svart Hona eggs in the incubator. It's going to be a long 21 days.

I hope you have a great hatch!

Thanks. I just need to remember to separate out the eggs before lockdown. I also put Ayam Cemani eggs in there from my latest generation. I can imagine it difficult to figure out which are the Svarts and which are the Cemani when they are only a few minutes old. I may even move the Cemani over to a separate hatcher.
