That's a good idea. My only problem would be dividing the brooder plate. If push comes to shove, the Tsouloufati chicks will have no heat source. This was my last hatch at just over a week old. Yeah, they're tough nuts

I have never used Betadine in the bators, however it's a great sanitizer so I don't see a problem with it as long as you rinse everything well. This said, rising well holds true for any chemical used on an incubator.OK so. I've been really stressed that none of the serama chicks will hatch, or that only one will. I've been thinking of placing two Tsouloufati eggs in with them to ensure that I would get at least two chicks. Also, Electric Lady sanitisation question, because I don't remember the answer. Could I use betadine when sanitising the incubator? Of course it'll be rinsed off afterwards
Betadine is definitely more potent than vinegar and you can never go over board when it comes to disinfecting the machine. Chicks can die from the diseases the machine can incubate. So definitely use the Betadine!Thank you TwoCrows! I just have this fear that diluted vinegar isn't enough, so I really would like to disinfect it with betadine as well.
Thank you for the reassurance. I really don't want to have a loner chick (or no chicks at all!), I've seen how badly that can turn out. I think my stressing over every little detail has been very much so documented on this thread

I would think if your boys are actually getting the "deed" done correctly and the girls are healthy, you should get more than 1 chick to hatch. But you never do know! I'm sure you'll get plenty to hatch, however I know how much pressure you feel to have a good hatch, especially if one chick ends up all alone. Try not to over think this, it will be ok.![]()
You will do everything you know to do, and the rest is up to nature.Yes, that's what I'm thinking! Can't be safe enough! I'm actually really scared about how clean I can get the top part of the incubator, since that is where the fan is situated.
Thank youLady Gaga has definitely done the deed once, but probably many more times than that. I'm a little worried, because their pen doesn't have too much open space for unrestricted "deed doing". I'm also straight up worried about the hatch rates of serama. I'll try not to get stressed though (well, more than I have), since it doesn't help the outcome at all
If Lady Gaga did it once he probably did it more than you know. One mating can last up to 14 days in the hen. How many hens was he in with? Even 2 hens should yield several fertile eggs between them. Do Seramas tend to have low hatch rates? I would set as many as you can to ensure as many chicks as possible.Yes, that's what I'm thinking! Can't be safe enough! That is very true. I have said, and still believe, that Cruella told me to trust nature. Thank you so much yall, you've helped me tremendously!
