Google translates skordaliá with garlic.
I certainly prefer fried fish with garlic over the US independent day dish (stuffed turkey).

Wil you count the eggs you are gathering now?

Yeah, not plain garlic. There's two ways of making σκορδαλιά, one involving bread, and the other potatoes. Both include garlic. Basically, it's a very garlicky dip/side dish that I'm not a big fan of. I just go for the cod

I'll count all the eggs at the end, since I'll not be collecting each day, but rather more loosely, to avoid (as much as possible) the girls from laying on the ground

There's a parade that passes in front of the parliament, and each family (or those that wish to celebrate) typically make fried cod with σκορδαλιά.
We have independent day/liberty day on May 5. The day WOII stopped in the Netherlands. This started in the town where I live. Its celebrated with peace fires, lots of music /bands and a few speeches. Nowadays its celebrated this in every Provence capital. Its not family or food related.

To be fair, ours is mostly centered around the parade as well. Very impressive to see on TV; but yes, we do have food related celebrations too. Its the Greek in us

Ah, seems like we'll both be celebrating that day! 5th of May is Easter Day this year!
