Some years are better than others on the Broody front. But you've got plenty of them, and determined broodies will go through fall and winter! So all hope is not lost yet!Not the first for this summer, actually. Currently Ursula and Foureira are sitting. Cruella has been clucking for a week, but I won't let her. Two of her daughters were also broody before they went to their new homes (I didn't let them). Another serama hen wanted to go broody, but I didn't let her. The first girl of the season was Big Red's daughter, at 10 months old! She was the one who unfortunately lost her chick. That one was tough. Just this afternoon, Cruella's OTHER daughter has committed to brooding an empty nest.
So many broodies, none successful so far![]()
