Oh dear! I have never heard of that happening. I'm really sorry it happened! :hit
Yeah, it is what it is. sadly.

Thanks.

May I ask what the name of the book have is?
But you must start with only a few chooks... TO BREED AN ARMY.
Yeah. I know.

I have don this for 2-years and had a great teacher.... A friend of mine has been doing this for years so I started and he taught me.

I am ordering from three different farms so I can have a diverse gene pool. When buying chicks from hatcheries you won't get the best of best but you will get some good birds so buying enough to give you room to butcher the ones that don't qualify and keep the ones that do.

Over time you will see where your chickens stand on the standard and then from there you can try to find a rooster to help improve those issues.

But also you want to start out with quite a few birds because when you get chicks you won't know exactly how each one is going to turn out... For me I will butcher ones that don't match up to the standard and have bad traits. I know not every bird is going to even match up to the standard but they will have to in some way of an other for me to keep them and use them in my breeding program.

This will be a year's long project and I am still learning... Thankfully I can still talk to Danny and get help from him.

Thank you.
