*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Once the last of them has left and the room is quiet, Alfric's eyes fill with tears. He tries to stifle his sobbing with his arm. It didn't even mean that much to him. It doesn't make sense for him to be upset. He brushes away the tears and sits up, screwing up his eyes and exhaling slowly. Knights don't cry. Knights don't cry. So why was he crying..
His pathetic behaviour angers him, and he stands up and runs his hands back through his hair. He didn't need an invite. He didn't need an invite to go. He deserved to go, and he would. He scoffs, and rubs his now very red eyes with his knuckles.

(I could have sworn I replied...)
Gwen sat quietly as Maud helped fit her mask.

Alena laughed. "They look the same as they always have."

Audric shuffled around his room grumbling. He hated balls.
Maud tied the silk string in a tight bow, then held up the handheld mirror for Gwen to see. "There. You look lovely, dear," she smiled warmly.

Richard escorted Linnet to the waiting carriage. After he helped her in, he closed the door and went to find his horse. Linnet adjusted her cloak around herself, then leaned back comfortably.
Hearing footsteps aproaching, Fawn ducked behind her horse. It wouldn't due to be stopped and questioned about her going now.
-------
"Can't argue with that," Edwin grinned. Hesitantly, he touched the side of her face gently with his hand.

( Audric)
Mariah watched Peter get out and change carriages. Perfect. Now if he would just stay with her during the ball.

Gwen smiled happily. "Thank you Maud. Will you be joining us?"

Alena flinched under his touch.

Peter sat across from a girl in a (whatever color dress Jane was in). He nodded a greeting to her.

Audric grudgingly got into the carriage.

Alfric sucks his teeth and glances around the room. If he ran he could get upstairs, take some clothes, stea- er borrow, a horse, and arrive at the ball just a few minutes later than everyone else. Noone would know it was him with the mask on. But he would have to do something about his hair. He grabs a pair of scissors from his side table and crouches down beside his bed. He brings them up to his head and stretches out a long curl of hair. He readjusts his grip and closes his eyes. Snip The lock of hair falls to the ground and he brushes it under the bed, pulling out another curl. He keeps cutting, until his hair is almost completely gone. It's too short to tell it was done by someone unprofessional. Alfric runs his hands along his scalp; the short scruffy tufts of hair are an unfamiliar feeling to him. He can't hide behind a mop of hair anymore, but that's what the mask was for. He brushes himself down and heads for the door. They had to be keeping his clothes somewhere around here..

"No, my dear. My job is here. But I shall have a hot cup of tea for you upon your return," Maud replied.

Richard mounted his horse and went to wait by the carriage. No other knights or guards were out there, so he was curious if and who was coming.
Fawn waited till he left the stable, then led her horse around back.
------
"I'm sorry," Edwin dropped his hand to his side. "I'll see you tonight, I suppose," he said as he turned to leave.

Jane smiled back. The young man looked familiar, but she couldn't recal his name. Deciding to make small talk, she looked at him. "Good afternoon, sir."

Mariah frowned at her husband. "We shall be entirely late if Edwin and Lariah do not hurry," she said begrudgingly.

Elsa knocked on Gwen's door,"can I come in, Gwen?"she asked.

Gwen gave Maud a toothy grin. "Could you possible run a bath?"

Alena sighed. "No. Edwin. I'm sorry. It wasn't you..."

Peter looked up. It was the women across from him. Considering how nobody else was yet in the carriage, she must have been talking to him. "And to you."

"Of course I will, now, scoot! You've kept Linnet waiting long enough," Maud playfully shooed her out of the door.

Linnet waited patiently for Gwen. She was eager to get going so they wouldn't be late.

Fawn mounted her horse and cantered out of the yard.
------
Edwin stopped, his hand on the door handle. "Take care," he said quietly as he slipped out.
(Mwahahaha XD)

"May I know your name?" Jane asked, forcing conversation on him. It wouldn't do to ride the whole way in awkward silence.

Reds stopped before turning a corner. He heard what sounded like the prince. That was the last person he needed to run In to.

Gwen gave Maud a quick hug, and bounced out the door. "Linnet?"

Alena slumped against the wall. She always had to ruin everything.

"Peter." He replied, only thinking of Linnet.

Linnet moved to the opposite side of the carriage to make space for Gwen and whoever else was coming.
------
Edwin closed the door behind him. He was oblivious to Redd, who stood quietly, watching. Edwin turned left out of the door, away from Redd and Alena. He felt horrible about the situation he had placed the girl in, for he wasn't completely sure if she felt the same.
Reds smirked as the prince walked away. "Now what would his royal highness be doing down here?" He muttered. He stepped lightly to the door and stopped, his hand on the knob.

"Peter..who?" Jane inquired.
