*The Verge of War* A Medieval Rp

Alfric can barely see through the mask, his peripheral vision is completely blocked by the sides of the eye cutouts. He has given up on trying to remove the mask; for now at least. The door at the end of the hallway is ajar, it must be the room he came from. He pushes it open and slams it shut behind him. There's the hole in the wall, the dirt on the floor, the prints on the pretty white sheets. Alfric takes a deep breath and grabs the mask, gritting his teeth and pulling it as hard as he can. But to no avail, it's stuck fast. He sighs, and fidgets uncomfortably. The sweat has begun running down his face and is now stinging his eyes, and itching his skin. He's beginning to wonder if it's cursed. Darn thing. And it fit so well.

Alena us unconscious and has no idea what is happening.

"The honor is mine." Gwen said politely, before brushing past Edmund and into the great parlor.

Peter felt a small bump as the carriage came to a stop. "It was a please to speak with you Lady Jane."

Audric grumbled silently under his breath as he took Mariah's arm.

Audric grumbled silently under his breath as he took Mariah's arm.
Edmund watched the princess for a moment before returning to greeting his guests.

Linnet followed Gwen only as far as the entry way. She stopped and turned to face Richard. "I don't think the queen meant you had to stand beside me the entire time," she smiled sweetly. Richard took the hint, bowed, and left.
Linnet breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't want him over her shoulder the entire evening.

Jane smiled graciously at Peter as she prepared to exit. "And it was a pleasure to speak to you, Sir Peter." The carriage stopped completely and the coachman opened the door for them.

Mariah accepted the king's arm. "Now, my dear, you must be on your best manners. You are the king! You must talk to the princess. As your future daughter in law, it would be best for you to know her more personally," she explained.
--------
Katrina returned to the prince's room with the supplies.
Edwin acknowledged her with a small nod.
"The physician is absent," she blurted out. "But I think I know what to do for now, at least," she quickly added to assure him.
"How would you know that?" Edwin asked, his eyes not leaving Alena.
"My mother is a midwife, and she often cares for the sick servants. I've watched her when she works here, and she told me all about everything when––"
"Okay, just do what you need to do quickly," Edwin interrupted her. He would prefer the Royal physician to attend Alena, but as he wasn't here, Katrina would have to do.

Alfric has taken his opportunity to escape, and has run back through the tunnel and down into the barracks. He rushes to the beds and drops down beside his chest, pulling out his boots and shirt and slipping into them.

Gwen gaped at the sparkling brilliance of the great hall. It was beautiful.

Peter stepped out of the carriage, and reached to assist Jane.

Audric sighed. "Yes Dear. Of course."

Linnet stopped behind her, not to take in the view, but to search for Peter. She scanned the growing crowd, but to no avail. He must not be here yet.

Richard meandered around the room, greeting only those he knew and avoiding everyone else. Balls weren't his thing

Jane willingly accepted his help. Lifting her skirts slightly, she stepped out. "Thank you," she smiled at Peter.

Mariah smiled at him, pleased with herself. "I do hope this ball suits my standard," she commented.
---------
Katrina immediately set to work. She set the bottles down on a table and went through them. "I need a bowl of hot water and a few rags," she told Edwin.
Edwin glanced at Alena, not wanting to leave her. "She'll be fine with me. Go!" Katrina urged him.
He left the room.
Katrina sat beside Alena, taking her hand in hers. Her pulse had slowed down since she had previously checked.

(Mariah finds Peter?)

Peter nodded. "I believe this is where we depart?"

(I was referring to Audric, when I said Mariah smiled at him :P )

Mariah nearly dragged Audric along as she went over to Peter and Jane. "Oh, Jane. I quite forgot to appoint an escort for you. Sir Peter, if you would be so kind," she smiled slyly.

Backing into a corner of the room, Fawn adjusted her very uncomfortable mask. Satisfied that it was slightly more comfortable than before, she proceeded around the room in search of a good conversation to eavesdrop on.

Edwin returned with a bowl of water and the requested rags. After setting them down, he looked at Katrina. "Anything else?" He asked.
Katrina dipped a rag into the bowl and dabbed Alena's forehead with it. "Please, have a maid bring up a tray of tea."
"Tea? How is that going to help?" Edwin frowned.
"It'll help you calm down," she replied. Having the prince in the room distracted her, so she was very glad when he reluctantly left.
