The Village of Critics - Have Your RP Thread Critiqued Today! ~

Overall I like it, its a bit like some of the RPs we have already (war based), but many of them have veered off their origional idea and become realistic threads with magic and non-human creatures, a result of poor managing IMO. If you can keep it on track and military based, and add some more details, I think it would be fun!

Hey there! Okay, so this is an idea I have for an RP. I may not even start it 'cause I don't have too much time for that, but anyway, what do you think? It's still very much a work in progress, but please give me your thoughts.
First of all, if your not sure if you'll have enough time to manage it, don't start it. There are too many RPs out there where the owner is hardly on to keep everyone on track. They can get outta hand pretty quickly.

Two countries are on the breach of war. Tensions are rising as the armies train for the inevitable battles. The training is tough, and only the best can become true Master Soldiers. No one knows when the other country may attack, and the people live in constant fear. Will you become a soldier and win fame and honor? Will you risk torture and even death for your country?
Good story, maybe add some more details though. Why are the countries at war? What are things that make different cities unique? Different fighting styles, techniques etc.

Rules and Guidelines
1. All BYC Rules apply
2. Keep violence at most PG-13
3. Girls do not become soldiers. However, they can be spies and archers.
4. Be realistic!
5. This is sort of set in the Iron age. That means no “modern” weapons.
6. Your form must be approved before use
7. People actually may be sent out of the army. If your character does, don’t get mad, you can still play. Your person may just have to be something else.
8. Use your best grammer and punctuation

I like your rules, quick to the point and specific, very clear. My favorite rule is number 7, too many times I see players create a "soldier" type character that should never have passed the training in the first place! Number 3 is interesting, keeps the RP realistic for the time frame. Some people might say its descriminating against females but I don't think so, its a neat twist!

Countries
Pandoa

Estleden

Ranks
King- Rules his country and has the ultimate say in all matters
Queen - Helps the king rule
Prince/Princess (Limited)
*Army Trainer- Must be very “picky”. Doesn’t put up with wimps.
Master Soldier- Only the best and toughest men become Master Soldiers. They are often captains and when King is absent can make battle plans
Horsemen- Soldiers on horses. Obviously.
Footmen- Footmen generally fight in solid bodies, for footman by himself if fairly weak.
Archer- Men or women can be archers.
Spies- Most risky army job. Men or women can be spies.
Townsperson- They fight only in defense. Though they don’t normally fight, they can be a great help to their country in other ways…

Good ranks, different spots for characters with different strengths and weakness, and also rank were both genders can fight.

*Whoever is the Army Trainer must be able to discharge a soldier when needed. They must be wise in their decision and not dismiss someone because of a bias.
Very nice review, I definately agree there.

If you need some ideas I might be able to help you, Fluff. The RP actually sounds like it could be fun if there were a few added adjustments.

I was thinking of having one of the countries being bad and one being good. Well, mostly bad and mostly good. What do you think of that idea?
Well, if they were at war with each other in the first place, they would both think that they were good and the other is bad. Though the latter goes for pretty much every war in history, I say they should be neither. Although, they could spread propaganda about the opposing country.

I don't know. Maybe they can both have their own little pros and cons? For example, nation A has a high standard of living, but crime is awfully high, while nation B exports important goods to other countries, although many of their citizens have little to no formal education.

That, and I'm just going to put an idea out there. Maybe there could be allied nations?

Yeah, Okay. Now I'll just have to think up what the pros and cons are!

About the allied nations thing, yes, it could work and be funner too, but that seems like more work for me and maybe it might be more confusing to new joiners.
