The "Vorwerk" thread!

Not to be confused with the lakenvelder.... The American bantam version of the standard German fowl was created in the US by Wilmar Vorwerk.

Any breeders or Vorwerk owners out there? Please share your pictures and info here on this Rare breed

I hatched out three last week
I only had three eggs so 100%

for Birds that will end up with orange bodies and black heads the Chicks are the opposite!

I got golden and sliver lakenvelder Large fowl, and they look the same. As chicks they look all kind of messed up in the middle of the body but clean up as they molt.

not a breeder just yet but I have a Vorwerk and am going to get more so I can breed



Although I wasn't aware of Vorweks coming in the White Neck variety

I thought it was only black

I did like that one and always wondered

would love to know how to go about doing this as I like the lav version

My avatar is not the lavender version because they would have the diluted groundcolor as shown on pic 3 and 5.
It is a photoshop of a platinum (blue+dun) where the silver groundcolor was replaced by gold.
We are trying to create the color though, and also the similar khaki (homozygous dun) version.

is it possible to use a blue vowerk to get the lav

they have a good bright buff ground colour and the black is replaced with pigeon blue
