"The Waiting" Support Group

Amber, this is my first batch, too! I was really nervous but once I get everything set up, I settled down. Now I'm just anxious to get them!

My first chicks too! I am excited, worried and impatient!

They might call tomorrow to say the chicks are coming or next week. Tomorrow would be perfect because wed is the last wed i have off. Hubby works from home so could get them but I want them to imprint me!!! lol

Help! I always thought I was a patient person until this!

tiki244 asks:
Can someone tell me what grogel is and chic grit and where to get it?
Grogel is touted as being a nutritional supplement and hydrator, developed to get baby chicks off to a good start due to the stess and rigors of shipment, etc. Some hatcheries sell it. You can read about it at the link posted below.
Grit is recommended to be sprinkled into the feed very lightly to aid in digestion. You can find a small box of it in the pet section of most stores. It is used for pet birds.

The order was with McMurray.. I'm in southern VA. My first time getting chicks through the mail, so I was kinda bummed. Brooder sitting in the kitchen... lamp warm and ready.. I called and called.. they assured me they had been sent, but it's been a week and nothing

I'm glad new ones are coming, but it's making me worry that much more that they will meet the same fate as they others!

Thinking good thoughts...

I wish I could have found this group sooner! My chicks are supposed to be shipped out today. So hopefully I'll be getting a call in the early morining to pick them up. I ordered 7 chicks from MPC. It's almost like Christmas. Yesterday the Kids and I set up the brooder and then I was so excited I couldn't sleep last night. I'm sure it will be worse tonight.
These are our first chickens ever. Not quite sure what we are getting into, but I'm hoping that all my research pays off and that we'll be able to take good care of them. I'm sure I'll be posting pics when they arrive!

) My chicks are to be mailed out today (from Meyer). I ordered 6 - our first flock ever. We set up the brooder last night and tested the heat lamp and the waterer. My kids and I are so excited. Thinking up names. Hoping they are warm and healthy.

I've been trying to call my Post Office all morning to find out about the delivery. Meyer said the chicks will be sent Express Mail, which I THINK means they will come directly to our house and not be sent with our usual mail carrier. But I want to make sure there aren't any mix-ups!

MOSELLE!! A kindred spirit!

Mine are also being shipped by Express Mail, but I did get ahold of my PO and then said that they would call me to pick them up when they arrived. They said they will most likely arrive on the "first truck" which arrives around 4 am. But they said they could wait till 7 to call if I wanted. I told them to wait till 6. But now, I'm thinking "I'm not going to be sleeping anyway, out of excitement, so they may as well call me at 4!"
Keep trying to get ahold of them. If they are going to call at 4 am, I'd at least want a heads -up!
