Got mine in yesterday morning. Wasn't all good, but not all bad either.

I think this is a silkie. It's got a black beak and black feet. I have two of them.

Finally I get to join the group, oh boy!! I placed my order with MMH today was surprised and bit relieved that they won't be shipped to first week of April, hopefully then it will be a bit warmer.
We're (DH,myself and 13 yo son) waiting for :
8 Golden Laced Polish Pullets and 2 roos
8 Ameracauna Pullets
12 Buff Orpington Pullets and 2 roos
12 Barred Rock Pullets and 2 roos
25 mixd fryer special

Now if we can just talk DH into letting us get some ducks......we'll have to work on that one.

I am pulling my gray hair out. Ideal called Monday morning. Shipped my Iowa Blues Monday, told me it normally takes 2 days to get chicks. It is freezing here right now, this very minute at 5.28 a.m. in
Mississippi and has been down in the 30's all night.
I am pacing the floor. The post office will not call me until after 6:00 a.m.
Oh to heck with this, I am going to the post office and be right outside the door when they call. Brooders are already up to temp and waiting.
I will let you know how this works out.

I just received 12 healthy baby chics from Meyer on tuesday all were warm and happy to get in the brooder for perfect 95 degrees.

I was concerned about the weather and shipped them Express with a heat pad.
All made it safe and sound I was so nervous and almost canceled the order many times, but Meyer told me they would be fine.

Now all I have to do is build Fort Knox to keep all the critters out, wish me luck.
Ed

P.S these are my first chics

Bad news on my shipment. I opened the box to find most of my chicks dead. Out of the 20 chicks in the box (10 Iowa Blues and 10 packing peanuts) only 6 chicks breathing. 2 of the packing peanut roos were standing up cheaping like crazy, one of my Iowa Blues was squatting and lethargic but may be ok, 2 were laying on their sides but breathing. After lukewarm sugar water one of the blues seemed to perk up a little.
We will see. I have already called Ideal. And I want to say, they are the nicest people.
I have more chicks arriving on Friday.
This is just soooo nerve racking and frustrating. I felt so sorry for all those little babies.

I'm sorry for the loss 2dream,

I was so nervous the last couple of days, just walking in circles doing nothing but stressing.
I hope the next delivery is better.

Sorry for the losses. Everytime I hear of them I get so nervous and sad. Mine are due to arrive Monday. I hope the weather holds as it is predicted to be sunny and warm.

I left 3 phone numbers with the post office but will probably be parked outside like the rest of you did
