The Welsummer Thread!!!!

They still might be EE's. I have an EE that is that coloring. EE's usually have green or slate legs, but not always. It could also be a black sex link. You might not know until she starts laying eggs. Our EE's started laying eggs at about 20 weeks.

Black sex link?????

I never saw a black sex link hen like that color. Most of them I had or seen are black body with some brown or buff or reddish breast feathers. And black or slate legs or black legs with yellow bottom of their feets. Never a Welsummer Partridge color in a sex link.

Would a Black Sex Link look like this: I have 2 that look different than all of the rest (I did order all the same....let's not go there)

Ok I looked at the website and they do not have Black Sex links but Harco pullets....the pic looks very much like Black Sex links and that is what they look like.

And yes they do have Barnvelders and the pic you showed, it is a Barnvelders.

And they do have Brown Leghorns (yours do not have prominent combs like the pic showed) or white earlobes.

So therefore, it IS a Welsummer!

Believe it or not, the poultry hatchery does have some local breeders in Ontario area so I would not be surprised if those breeders supply the hatchery some eggs.

If I can remember their names, I am not sure if they are on the Welsummer Club of North America under the Canadian breeders. I have to check but there are some good breeders up there!

Thank you so much for answering all of my questions. I am going to enjoy them no matter what, but I will now be expecting brown eggs, not purple-green-blue. I will let you know how this turns out.
