The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Ok for those of you folks wanted to see Prince Charles and his Welsummers........do they lay golden eggs?

For the life of me, I do not recall where I got this photo from. I was doing researching and Prince Charles IS a member of the UK's Welsummer Club and very active in raising and breeding them.

Finally the computer upload gods let me get the photos of Loki and his bad day up here. Apparently I didn't get any photos of him actually jumping at me but I will share them anyway.

Just being himself pre-attack.

This photo was snapped just the second before he jumped.

Just as I caught him, and trust me he stayed in this position for quite some time.

Here we got moved to the bench for my benefit.

After he settled down and was willing to stand on his own 2 feet and didn't try to get away.

and we're off and playing again trying to get as far away from me as possible. I think this was his smartest move of the day.

From the roos Silver Hackles and the speckling on all of them I was guessing a lacing gene in combo with something else. I can't figure it out, even with the genetics calculator.

I am guessin the roo was some crossbred variety that he might have been visiting some Welsummer member's farm.

The goldwing and silverwings are very definate, no lacings or barring in them.

Hi guys, just popping in here to ask a quick question!

I love, love, love my two Wellie girls, sweet as can be, smart and gorgeous! Can't wait to get my paws on some more Wellie eggs next spring, I just love this breed!

The only problem? No stinking eggs! There girls are coming up on 32 weeks on Wednesday, nice red combs, look like they should be of age, but not a squat from either of them! I've never seen either girl even appear interested in the nesting boxes. What gives?

Could they be laying elsewhere? Any signs of an egg eater in the group?

Do they have rooster that they could be squatting for? My Wellies have never squatted for me but they do for their roosters. I've never thought about it before but I think that they are the only breed that a hen has never squatted for me when I am catching them.
