My internet is finally fixed, so I'll have to take some pics.

Definately head of the german I would think - the Dutch are stocky like their LF cousins!!! Are the pencing on the neck feathers(on the shafts) common with the german birds - or maybe that popped up with crossing the 2 lines?

THOSE GIRLS ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! I'M GLAD THEY CAME FROM ME!!! I LOVE THE HAIR-DOS ON THE GIRLS! LOL

Nate

They went thru a terrible molt about a month and half ago. I swore they were getting some mohawks! Once those headfeathers sprout out more, then they will settle down.

I can see the differences on my Calicowoods hen's head vs yours......yours got smaller heads.

I think the black pencilings are more pronounced in the German than the Dutch.

GOOD MOM!!!

I wish the welsummer moms were great moms - they are at first, but are more of a broody, than a caretaker, at least in my experiences!

You'll have to get some pics up of you CW hen! I'd love to see here - might even have to get some eggs out of her and the rooster you have! :)

I bet they make a handsome couple!!!

For the sake of purity, I would not blend those two lines.

However seeing Gamesbirds stock, which has the mix of those two, they look like Welsummers to me. He personally didn't see anything different about them.

There are differences in the German (Verheyden) stock: they are little bigger than the Dutch, more darker and they look more like OEs in type.

Dutch, are smaller, more true to Welsummer type and color.

Here are the photos of the differences:

See the differences?

Yes, thank you, EweSheep. That explains a lot - I really appreciate it. My Wellies are from Erhard, and I will need to be adding another good cock to the flock, and I am planning ahead.
