Thanks Tailfeathers- I understand about time... I cruised by your website, very nice!

Thanks Wing it- That age is my favorite age for all breeds. They have quite the personalities don't they?

Pinky if you wanting bantams, you might have a long waiting list. some of us are starting out and trying to increase the size of our flock. Not easy if you keep losing them from predators or sudden death of unknown reasons or got loose.

Expect to pay somewhere between $50 to $200 for a good rooster and roughly $75 and up for pullets. It all depends on the bloodlines as well. They are beautiful birds and they are roughly the 1/3 to half the size of a LF Welsummer.

Thought I would say hi!! My welsummers are hatching right now! I fell in love with them and the egg color so I had to get some. Started with 12 eggs, had to get rid of 1. So far 5 have hatched, 1 more almost out, and 2 more pipped.

I will try to post pictures when they are done.

Can Wellies be slow to start laying is it perhaps just nature and my Wilma taking her sweet time. She's 28 weeks a nice comb and wattles, not flaming red, but light red. She lost her tail feathers to a rooster at the farm I got her, so I know she's working on them (It also is the favorite place for some of the other girls to peck her. I think I'll put peck-no-more on her backside today

I have had a couple of gals drag their feet when starting to lay, but not had one wait until 28 weeks. Wilma better get her groove on!
Do you have a light on them?

They wake up at 6am with a light on a timer and we have a light that goes off at 4:30pm to 5:30 but lately they are all on their roosts by 5 no mater how bright the light

I love everyone's posts!! I have Welsummers at the TOP of my list for hatching!! Now along those lines.... I have a large pile of Brand New Littlest Pet shop Items that I would gladly Trade now for a dozen or so Eggs in March... I'm going to post in trades too, but since this IS a wellies thread, I figure some Wellie enthusiast might just help a gal out
