Beesong, welcome to the club LOL!

OKchickens, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. When they do get broody, they would set the eggs but once the chicks hatched, they want nothing to do with them. Or rarely, they would care for their chicks. Not all of them would do it. Welsummers are considered a non broody breed.

Hi Everyone!

Thought I would pop by and let ya'll know how my broody Welsummer girl is doing. Everyday she would kick all of the eggs, except one out from under her and I would end up putting them back. After a few days of that...I took the eggs from her and gave her 2- 3 week old Barnevelder cockerels. Instinctively the chicks knew exactly what to do and she lifted up and let them go right under her where she has had them tucked safely away for almost 3 days now. She is happy as can be. She talks talks talks to them if they get out from under her to get a drink of water or bite of food but they hear her talk and they go right back under her. So far, so good.

Good luck to all that have just set eggs and many good vibes coming to those that are in the middle of incubation or getting near the end.
