The Welsummer Thread!!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'm such a jerk!

I thought I would post a photo of my Welsummers. Did you know they make excellent evening "brooders" for chicks. I have some chicks housed with my Welsummers. The Old Heritage Barred Rocks are very slow growers and feather up real slow so they need a little extra heat. I place a Barred Rock chick between each Welsummer to include roosters. The photo I originally wanted to get was of the rooster with his wings open and covering the chicks on both sides. When I went to get the camera and came back the rooster pulled in his wings so I did not get the shot

But I have these shots for you to enjoy.

My Wellies acting as Brooders. Such a kind temperament bird to even include the roosters. A GREAT, GREAT BREED!!!!!

OMG that is so awesome that is why I bought a Welsummer to add to my flock she is only 2weeks old but so docile. I wanted cool looking eggs and a good brooder. I bought two Silkies as well but I thought a Welsummer would be a nice mix to my mix Flock, and boy is it mixed!

6-12. I'll offer anything on my swap page except the sewing machine or bread maker.

Lol, well those items are worth $100+ and are expensive to ship so I would be getting shafted if I traded those for 6-12 eggs. ;)

one of my welsummer babies died this morning. The weather got real cold and they huddled up and this one was squished. I am so sad

I have six more and I seperated them from the rest of the chicks so they wouldnt all pile up on each other. The chicks are so easy to handle and calm. I am so sad that one of my little babies died. Last night one of my silver laced cochins died. Just fell over. was drinking water and eating then.......nothing. Couldnt save it. Just needed to get it off my chest. I love these welsummers, they are great chicks, I cant wait to see them develope into great adorable chickens.

I need help with something. I have 5 Wellies the same age about 5-6 weeks and i can tell a definite difference in one of their comb and waddles as well as more of a protruding spur than almost any other of me hens. would this tell you that i may have a roo. I hope so because I'm looking for one. looking at these pics of your wellie roo's it makes me want to find one even more now. I have five wellies that are about 8-9 weeks old and none of them have any comb or waddles like this one. Please tell me what you think. I know the pics are not he best. The posible roo.
